Scientific High School with a Focus on Applied Natural Sciences
The Scientific High School with a Focus on Applied Natural Sciences offers a comprehensive general education alongside specialised studies in the natural sciences. The core subjects are Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics, complemented by Computer Science and a range of other general education subjects.
A distinctive feature of the programme is the close connection between theoretical knowledge and practical application. Students explore scientific concepts through experiments, laboratory work, and hands-on activities. They learn to approach scientific questions systematically, make observations and measurements, analyse results, and interpret findings using scientific methods.
The programme fosters logical, analytical and interdisciplinary thinking, as well as the ability to apply scientific knowledge to real-world problems. At the same time, it encourages a responsible approach to scientific and technological developments, promoting critical reflection on their impact on individuals, society, and the environment.
Alongside the natural sciences, languages (German, Italian and English), together with history, philosophy and other general education subjects, form an important part of the curriculum. This ensures a well-rounded and comprehensive education.
The programme prepares students for a wide range of university courses and career paths. It provides a particularly strong foundation for further studies in the natural sciences, medicine, engineering, computer science and environmental sciences, while also opening doors to numerous other university programmes and career opportunities.
